4. Dairy Products
Usually, dairy is actually good for you because of all the protein that you can get from these products. However, if you’re an arthritis patient, it might actually be advisable to skip the dairy altogether. Dairy contains a protein that may irritate the tissue around the joints.
Now luckily, not every patient reacts to dairy like this, so it’s worth experimenting to see if you can handle dairy as an arthritis patient. Otherwise, you might want to turn to lentils, beans, nuts and tofu to get your daily dose of protein.
5. Refined Carbs
This is another one that can be extremely difficult to avoid. Thanks to the nearly ubiquitous nature of white flour, it might seem like Mission Impossible to avoid all products with refined carbohydrates in them. It’s definitely worth a try, though.
White flour and other processed grain increases the cytokines in your blood stream and, more specifically, the cytokines that can cause inflammation. This, of course, can lead to immense pain for those suffering from arthritis.
Now we acknowledge that baked goods are really tasty, but they’re just not good for you. White flour has none of the nutritional value that the original grain ever had, so try opting for wholegrain options instead, like wholegrain bread, rice and pasta. Also, limit your portions.
