14. Clean Greasy Pans
Grease can be difficult to remove, especially if you didn’t rinse your pans immediately after cooking. However, the grease can be easily removed with the help of a bit of salt. For this trick, just fill the pot or pan with water and add a few tablespoons of salt in it. Then, leave the pan to soak for a few hours, then boil the saltwater mixture in your pan or pot. By doing this, you’re letting the salt wash out the excess burnt material. Just pour out the water afterwards and wash the pans as usual and they should be grease-free.
15. Polish Copper or Brass
Copper or brass might look nice and shiny in the beginning, but after a while the shine disappears. This means that you need to polish your copper or brass. And luckily, you can do this with the help of salt, among a few other household items. You can either rub a mixture of 1 tablespoon of table salt and 1 cup of white vinegar onto the copper with a soft cloth and rinse. Or you can immerse the tarnished copper into a pot of 3 cups of water and the salt-vinegar mixture, bring it to a boil and boil until the grime and tarnish comes off.
16. Brighten Your Curtains and Rugs
Curtains and rugs make your interior look a lot better, but because they are exposed to a lot of dirt, they lose their colour and shine very quickly. Luckily, a little bit of salt is all you need to make those look as good as new again! Simply dip a washcloth in a strong saltwater solution, wring it out and then briskly rub the faded rugs and curtains. You’ll see that after a while, the colours will brighten. This is because the texture of the salt is rough enough to scrub the dirt off the curtains or the rug. Make sure you use a clean washcloth, as using a dirty one might only cause the dirt on the rug or curtains to spread out. When you use a clean washcloth, the dirt will be absorbed and your rugs and curtains will look great once again!
