2. Removing Rust
Unless it’s made out of stainless steel, chances are that things made out of metal will rust over time. Luckily, a bit of lime and salt can also be very effective in removing rust. Sprinkle some salt over the area of the object that has rusted to ensure that it is completely covered. Then, squeeze a lime all over it. Make sure you squeeze as much juice out of the lime as you can to make sure you get the best effect. After that, leave it for about 3-4 hours before you scrub it off.
3. Prevent Fruit From Browning
Fruit is great: not only is it really tasty, but it’s also very healthy. But some fruits, like apples and pears, start browning if they’re peeled and left out for too long. Luckily, a bit of salt is all you need to prevent this from happening. To make sure your fruit doesn’t brown, soak the cut fruit in a saltwater solution (half a teaspoon of kosher salt per cup of water) for 10 minutes, then drain and store until you want to eat the fruit. You might think that the fruit will taste salty because of this, but the mild salt flavor can be rinsed off with tap water before serving.
4. Unclogging Your Kitchen Drain
After a while, your kitchen drain will start to clog because of all the food scraps that gather in the drain over time. Salt can help you unclog your drain and get rid of all the food scraps. After removing standing water from the sink, pour about half a cup of table salt down the drain before you pour in the boiling water. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then flush with hot water to clear the mixture.
