Broccoli contains sulforaphane, which is a plant compound found in cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, kale and Brussels sprouts. This substance has been found to reduce the number and size of breast cancer cells by up to 75 percent, as well as helping to kill off prostate cancer cells in mice and being linked to a reduced risk of colorectal cancer and colon cancer.
Now, the studies mentioned were all limited to test-tube, animal and observational studies, so the research hasn’t directly looked at the effect broccoli has on cancer in humans.
